Richard 'Dick' Packer

Richard 'Dick' Packer,83, of Van Wert died at 6:00 PM Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne,IN.  He was born in Van Wert July 28, 1935, the son of Thomas and Grace (Rhodes) Packer.  He married Joan (Wells) Packer October 20, 1956 and she preceded him in death in 2001.

He is survived by his Life Partner, Judy Comer of Van Wert and his children:  Pam (Kevin) Baker of Chattanooga, TN- Jim (Karen) Packer of Franklin, TN- Laura (Ron) Ditto of Van Wert- David Packer of Van Wert- Amy (Todd) Allison of Cookeville, TN-   GRANDCHILDREN;  Travis Baker, Chuck Baker, Adrienne  Barclay, Molly Gonzalez, Christie Packer. Rick Ditto, Maggie Ditto -  6 Great-Grandchildren. Besides his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Gail Packer.

Dick was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church where he was a long time choir member.   He also sat on the Advisory Board of Starr Commonwealth.  He was a long time partner in Best Auto Sales.

DICK'S PASSIONS WERE FAMILY, MUSIC, CARS, AND THE DETROIT TIGERS.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday, June 12, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with Father Stan Syzbka as Celebrant.  Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.   Friends may call at Brickner Funeral Home from 3 - 7 PM Tuesday, June 11, 2019  where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM.
