Margaret M. "Maggie" Pontius, 82, of Van Wert, died at 4:25 PM Wednesday, December 25, 2019, at Van Wert ER shortly after arrival. She was born Dec. 10, 1937, in Plainfield, New Jersey, the daughter of the late Frank C. and Williamina (Leeds) Scott, Sr. On June 7,1955, she married William I. "Bill" Pontius and he preceded her in death April 6, 2007.

She is survived by her children: William I. Pontius, Jr of Van Wert- Margaret Dian Collins of Linden, Virginia-Dean D. Pontius of Van Wert- Michael (Dawn) Pontius of Van Wert- Sharon (Joseph) Bassett of Van Wert- Kirk Lynn Pontius of Van Wert- brother, Frank D. (Jerry) Scott of Spencer, Iowa- 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 8 step great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.

Maggie spent her life as a cook at various restaurants in and around Van Wert . She was a member of Van Wert Post 178 American Legion Auxillary, Red Hats Society and was an avid bowler.

There will be no funeral service. Friends may call at Brickner Funeral Home from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 Monday, December 30, 2019. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Middle Creek Cemetery.

Preferred Memorials are to the Van Wert Adult Day Care and the Van Wert Senior Citizens Center.
