Ida Marie Welch

Ida Marie Welch, 85, of Scott, Ohio died peacefully after a short illness Friday, July 5, 2013, at her daughter's home in Granger, Indiana, surrounded by her family.A  She was born May 17/18, 1928 in Scott, Ohio to Eva Lavina (nee Beach) Titler and Clois Titler of Scott, Ohio and Jackson, Michigan.A  After Marie's father's death in 1936, her mother was remarried to Murrel Elmer (Tommy) Thompson of Scott, Ohio.A  Five generations of Marie's ancestors had lived in Scott.

Marie married Max K. Welch of Latty Township Township, Paulding County, Ohio, (near Grover Hill) in 1948.A  Although the couple was parted in 1976, Marie continued a warm, loving relationship with Max's extended family, the Welch clan, whom she often said were her family, too, and important to her.A  She attended the Welch reunion at Welcome Park in Grover Hill, Ohio, until now.A  Marie never remarried.

Marie's life was full of her love of the Lord, family, friends and her church.A  She attended different churches in her youth and Mt. Zion United Methodist Church northeast of Grover Hill, when her children were young.A She began receiving "The Plain Truth" magazine in 1958, and began attending the Worldwide Church of God (WCG) in 1973.A  Later she attended the United Church of God, a daughter church of the WCG and was active until the present.A  She enjoyed attending the Feast of Tabernacles every year with her church and many of her family, and was able to travel and enjoy the Feast in a myriad of locales. Marie also enjoyed traveling to Ireland with two of her daughters and a son-in-law in 2000. Visiting Ireland had been a dream of hers since her youth.

Marie worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone in Fort Wayne, Indiana, fresh out of high school and again as a telephone operator for United Telephone Service in Van Wert, Ohio, from 1969 through the 1970's.A  She later worked for Green Thumb and WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) where she had dear friends, the other "WIC chicks". Marie loved working with all the wonderful babies and children there and used her experience being a loving, nurturing mother to her own seven babies. According to all of her familly, Marie was "Mother of the Year" for 64 years running!

She is survived by all seven of her children:A  Kathy (Jim) Johnson of Granger, Indiana; Carol (Herb) Solinsky of Carrollton, Texas; Mike (Tamara) Welch of Sterling, Colorado; Mark (Barb) Welch of Kellyville, Oklahoma; Tim (Linda) Welch of Shelby, Ohio; Ted Welch of Frazeysburg, Ohio; and Kristal (Phillip) Frankford of Monroe, Wisconsin. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; Aaron (Cathy) Johnson of South Bend, Indiana;A Ryan (Jaclyn) Johnson of Newark, Ohio; Jeff (Natalie) Solinsky, of Tampa, Florida; Jacquelyn (Fred) Hudson of Centennial, Colorado; Tyler Welch of Denver, Colorado; Jaime (Alex) Roth of Homer, Alaska; Matt Welch, presently of Seoul, Korea; Kimberly Welch of Toledo/Shelby, Ohio;Katie Welch of Shelby, Ohio; Danielle (Tylor)Wendt of Madison, Wisconsin; and Samuel, Michael, Gabriel, Joel, and Ezekiel Frankford, all of Monroe, Wisconsin.Marie was also blessed to have met all of her current seven great-grandchildren:Susan of South Bend, Indiana; Sawyer and Isla of Newark, Ohio; William and Jenna of Centennial, Colorado; Xander of Homer, Alaska; and Arthur of Madison, Wisconsin.

Visitation will be on Monday, July 8, 2013 from 4 PM - 7 PM in Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, Ohio.A  Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 2 PM at Brickner Funeral Home. Interment will be in Scott Cemetery following the service.
