Kelly Medford

age 78, of Middle Point, died at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Lima.

He was born September 14, 1927, in Hoaglin Township, Van Wert County, the son of the late Bert and Phoebe (Bashore) Medford. On November 24, 1951, he married Jean Breese, who survives at the family residence.

Mr. Medford retired from Eaton Corporation in 1989 after 36 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served as a carpenter in the Philippines. He was a lifelong resident of Hoaglin Township and was a graduate of Hoaglin-Jackson High School. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He led a wonderful and productive life.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Jeff (Tracy) Medford; one daughter, Connie (David) Young; two brothers, Kenneth Medford of Sebring, Fla., and Carl (Rose) Medford of Ohio City; two sisters-in-law, Eldivia Medford and Dorothy Medford; a brother-in-law, Pete Rollins; three granddaughters, Ashley Medford, Sarah Medford and Hanna Young Medford, and a grandson, John Medford.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Lynn Medford; five sisters, Violet Rhineholt, Freda Flower, Opal Rollins, Bessie Phillips and Bertha Ditto, and two brothers, Carey and Clarence Medford.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 16, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery near Middle Point, where military graveside rites will be performed by the combined honors unit of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert.

Viewing hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, December 15, at the funeral home.
