Virginia Ruth (Geething) Placke

Virginia Ruth Placke, 85, of rural Grover Hill, Ohio , died Saturday, July 6, 2019 at the Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, IN surrounded by her family.  She was born August 25, 1933 in Van Wert the daughter of the late Marion and Ruby (Baer) Geething.  On November 5, 1953 she married the late Arnold Harold Placke who preceded her in death on December 9, 1984.

She is survived by her children:  Shirley (George) Webb of Grover Hill-  Timothy (Rita) Placke of Middle Point - and Carol (Brent Calvert) Placke of Convoy-  grandchildren Jenniffer (Mark) Price, Christopher Webb, Erik Placke, Zachary Stutz, Robert (Sarah) Placke, Calvin (Anna) Placke, -step grandchildren Jason (Mandy) Couts and Josh Couts, - great grandchildren Brittany Jenkins, Mox Price, Race Price, Ryker Lee Webb, Blaise Placke, and  Maddox Placke -step great grandchildren Ashlynn (Daron) Couts, Chamber;ynn Couts, Braxtyn Couts-great great granddaughter Myla Showalter.  In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brothers William, Doyle, Robert, Ray, and James Geething  and sister  Elsie (Geething) Placke.  

She was a member of Trinity Friends Church and worked at Collins Fine Foods from 1947 until 1993 when she retired to open her pride and joy The Scott Variety Shop which she was still proprietor of until January of 2018 at which time she decided to sell due to health reasons.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday July 10, 2019 at Brickner Funeral Home with Rev. Jody Harr officiating.  Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.  Friends may call at Brickner Funeral Home from 2 - 7 Tuesday, July 9 and on Wednesday from 9:30 AM to time of service. 

Preferred Memorials are to the Scott Fire and EMS Department.
